And from what I've seen it seems like a lot of people who bounced off 3 took that personally, especially after 2 was basically Bayo 1.5. This feels like Platinum asserting their creative freedom to do whatever they want with their property and a reinforcement of the idea that they're not interested in retreading the same ground mechanically. Another part of it is Bayo 3 already deviated from the Bayonetta formula and tried to innovate in the genre its predecessor has had such a major influence in, with mixed results. Part of it is the story in 3 fell flat on its face even for freaks like me who actually think it had some merit, so a whole game with a story focus is a hard sell. It's an innovative control scheme that takes a little while to get used to, as some areas require the heroes to go in separate directions. This emerges in the form of a twin-stick approach, where the joystick of the left Jo圜on controls Cereza, and the right controls Cheshire.
